SIGBOX

  1. What SIGBOX is – SIGBOX  is a secure file storage and sharing solution, designed to replace the now-deprecated CloudStor solution. The primary users are WSU researchers that have a need to share research data with external collaborators.
  2. Who is eligible for it – Researchers who find they are not being served by standard Microsoft OneDrive folders are candidates for SIGBOX.
  3. What can be stored on it - It’s important to note that a user should not currently use this storage solution to store sensitive information such as – personal, sensitive or health data. The university privacy policy also does not apply for SIGBOX as it's not intended to store sensitive information of any type. Note this may be reviewed at a later date.
  4. Quota: A default quota of 100 GB is provided to each user. If more space is required, this should be noted when the request for SIGBOX access is made (see next point). Existing users requiring more space should raise a request via the WesternNow IT Portal (MyIT Portal > Request Something > Other > Work Request) or contact the IT Service Desk.
  5. How do I access SIGBOX? –
    1. Raise a request via WesternNow for SIGBOX access, along with a justification for access.
    2. Once the request is approved by Research Services, the IT Service Desk will provide access to SIGBOX and confirm.
  6. SIGBOX account lifecycle – Usage of the storage account is regularly monitored for inactivity. If access to the system is less frequent or not required anymore kindly inform the IT Service Desk and have your access revoked as there are limited licences available for this service.
