MATES Application Form for Mentors

You can complete this form to let us know that you are interested in becoming a mentor for an upcoming teaching session.

To become a MATES Mentor you will need to: Meet the below eligibility criteria, complete this online application form and successfully complete some short online training modules and attend a compulsory face-to-face training day.  Information sessions available prior to training day are optional.

Eligibilty Criteria is assessed as part of your application. Please read the below eligibility criteria prior to completing the form, as you will be asked to acknowledge that you meet the required eligibility to become a peer mentor with MATES. If you are concerned about meeting these criteria, please reach out to use to discuss, as we understand that life can sometimes affect your GPA. For example, if you experienced extenuating circumstances in a previous teaching session which impacted your studies and affected your results, there may be scope for still accepting your application. This, and the final decision, will be at the discretion of the MATES Program Coordinator.

Students applying to become a MATES mentor must:

• Be enrolled in a least one unit during the teaching session in which you wish to be a peer mentor.
• Have studied at Western for the past two teaching sessions.
• Have achieved a pass GPA for the previous two teaching sessions.
• Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Have strong  organisation and time management skills.
• Be committed and reliable.
• Successfully complete Mentor Induction Training
