About iCFSERP-2024

International Conference on Fire Safety Engineering Research and Practice, Sydney, 2024 (iCFSERP-2024) will bring international and national experts in fire safety engineering and structural fire engineering research and practice to Sydney to present and share their latest research and practice.

This conference will be organised jointly by the Fire Safety Engineering Research Group, School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment, Western Sydney University and Global Circle for Scientific, Technological and Management Research (GCSTMR).

The main objectives of this conference are to provide an opportunity for professional interaction amongst the researchers, engineers, academics and students, as well as to strengthen the industrial cooperation and showcase the latest developments and future trends in their fields.

iCFSERP-2024 will feature keynote addresses by world leaders in fire safety engineering and structural fire engineering. All the abstracts, extended abstracts, poster, and full papers submitted to iCFSERP-2024 will be assessed by an independent review panel. All full papers if accepted will be published in the Conference Proceedings with Australian ISBN Number.

iCFSERP-2024 will be held at Western Sydney University’s Parramatta campus, which is situated 20km from the Sydney CBD and is well connected by rail, road and ferry networks. The traditional landmarks of Sydney including Sydney Harbour, Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge are within easy reach of the conference venue as is the Blue Mountains World Heritage National Park.

Conference themes:

  1. Fire resilient building materials (steel, concrete, mass timber, masonry, FRP, etc.)
  2. Fire protection materials (cementitious based, intumescent, etc.)
  3. Fire performance of structures
  4. Fire behaviour of cladding systems (cladding panels, cavity barrier, insulations)
  5. Flame retardant polymer composite materials
  6. Active and passive fire protection systems
  7. EV fires and battery fire safety
  8. Fire testing methods
  9. Building and tunnel fires
  10. Human behaviour in fire
  11. Bushfire protection and systems
  12. Numerical fire modelling (analytical, finite element and FDS analysis)
  13. Performance-based solutions in fire engineering
  14. Cost benefit analysis of fire protecting materials and systems
  15. Other relevant topics related to fire

Opportunity to Publish in Jounrals:

Authors of selected conference papers will be invited by the iCFSERP-2024 Scientific Committee to submit extended versions for publication in Engineering Structures (IF 5.5) and Fire (IF 3.2) (subject to satisfying the criteria of the journals). Engineering Structures provides a forum for a broad blend of scientific and technical papers to reflect the evolving needs of the structural engineering and structural mechanics communities. Engineering Structures will publish a Special Issue on the topic of Structural Fire Engineering. Fire is an international, peer-reviewed, open access Q1 journal about the science, policy, and technology of fires and how they interact with communities and the environment, published monthly online by MDPI. Depending on the paper quality and reviewer feedbacks, the authors of top 20 papers will get full or partial discount to pay the open access fee of Fire Journal (10 papers with full discount and 10 papers with 50% discount).

Registration Fees:

Author registrations that are completed AFTER the Late Registration Deadline may not be included in the Conference Proceedings. You highly recommend registering as early as possible.

Please be reminded that we specified that one publication cost for one paper per presenter is included in the registration. An additional cost of $350 is applicable for the submission of a second paper.

Registration fees

Registration fees include: conference materials, lunch, refreshments, admission to all sessions, and conference dinner (for full delegate registration and student registration). An extra dinner ticket can be purchased for $130 per person.

  • International delegates and international students from countries with a per capita GDP of less than US$ 10,000 (World Bank, 2023) will receive a discount of $100 on the registration fee.
  • To use the student registration rate, the student needs to provide his/her supervisor’s contact information in registration.
