NSW Health

Western Sydney University has an ongoing collaborative partnership with NSW Health. This partnership has been in existence since 2012 and has been formalised through a series of Memorandums of Understanding. The purpose of the partnership is to work collaboratively and strategically to promote health and wellbeing by providing a safe, supportive, and healthy environment across Western Sydney University Campuses, and Nepean Blue Mountains, South Western Sydney, and Western Sydney Local Health Districts.

This partnership has led to many wonderful outcomes including the adoption of the Okanagan Charter and recognising of Western as a Health Promoting University, Western being the first smoke-free University in NSW (2014), policy contributions, and cross-campus Health Promotion programs in partnership with NSW Health.

This year alone in partnership with NSW Health, we have run Sexual Health Training, joined the Bankstown Recovery and Support Network, provided information/resources/training using the International Student Health Hub, Sexual Health Peer Education in partnership with Badanami, upcoming Vaping Information Workshops for CALD communities, and beginning a Healthy Campus Checklist and Shade Audit.
