Deck the halls with December Graduates

Graduation at night

December is a time for cheer and for University of Western Sydney students there could be no better way to celebrate than finally completing their tertiary studies.

Whether under or postgraduate the graduands at this week's ceremonies will receive an extraordinary present this season - the power of education. The time has now come for graduands to step-on-up onto the stage, receive their testamur and then to step-on-out into the workforce in pursuit of a career in their chosen field.
A highlight of each graduation ceremony is the Occasional Address, UWS graduands and their guests will have the opportunity to hear from a range of distinguished speakers, including:
  • Adjunct Prof Kathy Baker AM, Director Advice Centre, Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (12:00pm Wednesday 18 December)
  • Mr Lyall Gorman, Executive Chairman, Western Sydney Wanderers (5:00pm Wednesday 18 December)
  • Mr Matt Graham, Partner, PriceWaterhouseCoopers (2:30pm Thursday 19 December)
Exemplary community members to receive Honorary Doctorates during December Graduations are:

Professor Reid will retire as Vice-Chancellor of UWS after 16 years of service at the end of 2013.

The University presents Community Awards at graduations to formally recognise outstanding individuals within the Greater Western Sydney region for their leadership and/or voluntary contribution to the community.

These individuals are valuable role models in the community and have gone 'above and beyond' in their work or community service:

  • Councillor Mark Greenhill, Mayor, Blue Mountains City Council
  • Wendie Lambert, President, Blacktown Computer Pals.

UWS wishes to offer our graduates all the best for their future endeavours. The power of education can take you places you have never dreamed of - congratulations on taking those first steps with the University of Western Sydney.
