Alien Invasive Species Management

Western Sydney University shares several of its campuses with remnant Cumberland Plain bushland.  These indigenous areas that once dominated Western Sydney, have been reduced by over 80% and are now listed as endangered.

One of the greatest threats facing the ongoing survival of the Cumberland Plain bushland is the impact of alien invasive species.

Western has developed management plans specifically to address the need to minimise the impact of both exotic (alien) plant and animal species on the remnant native bushland.

These actions are ongoing, and in 2022 WSU invested a total of 1050 working hours mitigating these impacts.
