Hatch

.

Hatch is an initiative of the WSU undergraduate Writers’ Group Project and is supported by the Writing and Society Research Centre at Western Sydney University.

The aim of Hatch is to foster and celebrate the best of undergraduate writing at Western Sydney University, and to continue in the development of student excellence through creative and critical avenues.

Hatch began as a writers’ group for undergraduate students at Western Sydney University.

In 2021, the original six members of Hatch, assembled by Helen Koukoutsis, met every three weeks outside of class to receive individual instruction and to share and give feedback on each other’s work. The sessions were formative moments for members of the group and helped to affirm their self-belief and their conviction as writers.

An anthology was born out of the works of these original six. True to form, Hatch is spreading its wings. All budding wordsmiths—storytellers, poets, dramatists, essayists at WSU—are now invited to submit work to the anthology. Visit the Hatch website for more details.
