Biography

Deena Mehjabeen is a PhD candidate and researcher at the Translational Health Research Institute, Western Sydney University. Her PhD research focuses on examining mental health self-care practices and developing recommendations within Arabic-speaking refugee-like communities in Australia and other Western countries. Through her work, Deena aims to make a meaningful impact in global health, particularly by addressing mental health issues among marginalised populations. With a Master of Public Health and Global Health from The University of Sydney, as well as Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Microbiology from the University of Dhaka (Bangladesh), Deena brings a diverse educational background to her work. Her professional background includes significant experience in academia and research. In addition to her academic pursuits, Deena actively volunteers for public health initiatives, contributing to research, policy and practice efforts.
