Australian Public Health Conference Scholarship THRI HDR Student Benedict Osei Asibey received the inaugural Student Scholarship from the Public Health Association of Australia's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Special Interest Group to attend the 2021 Australian Public Health Conference. Benedict presented his PhD findings on homelessness in Ghana. |
Lowitja Institute Scholarship THRI PhD Candidate Kyar Wilkey has been awarded a prestigious, competitive scholarship for her PhD considering motivational interviewing in Aboriginal communities from the Lowitja Institute. |
AHPA Shooting Stars Award Shamieka Dubois (THRI HDR Student) received the AHPA Shooting Stars award in recognition of her contribution to research aimed at preventing and managing chronic diseases in Australia. |
Linda McKeever Award Samantha Ryan was awarded the Linda McKeever Award for high quality research presented by a student at the 2019 SMCR Conference. She presented: ‘Women’s experiences of the premenstrual body: Negotiating body dissatisfaction, self-objectification and menstrual shame’. |

Early Career Investigator Award Beatriz Martin Monzon was recently awarded the Early Career Investigator Award for her abstract submission, "Brain water diffusion changes in adolescent girls with anorexia nervosa", for the 2018 Eating Disorders Research Society (EDRS) Conference. |
Western Sydney University Summer Research Scholarships Program Presentation Award Praween Senanayake won Western’s Summer Research Scholarships Program Presentation Award for 2017/2018 from a field of over 60 presenters for his research project “A study to examine the association between infant feeding practices and childhood obesity in South Western Sydney.” |
Mental Health Matters Award: Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Communities Gabriela Uribe received the Mental Health Matters Award: Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Communities 2017 from WayAhead - Mental Health Association NSW for her research on Improving the capacity of community-based workers in Australia to provide initial assistance to Iraqi refugees with mental health problems. The Mental Health Matters awards seek to recognise the efforts of community groups and individuals in New South Wales in promoting mental health and wellness programs in their local communities. |
People's Choice Award Felix Ogbo and Marlee Bower both received the People's Choice Award for their presentations at the 2016 CHR Student Research Conference. Felix presented his work on The impact of suboptimal feeding practices on diarrhoea in Nigerian children and Marlee presented her work on The role of marginalisation in how the homeless experience loneliness. |

OMICS International Best Young Research Forum Award Felix Ogbo received the OMICS International Best Young Research Forum Award at the recent World Congress on Public Health and Nutrition for his presentation on Have policy responses in Nigeria resulted in improvements in infant and young child feeding practices in Nigeria? This award is given to a student who presents a research paper of quality, novelty and significance. |
People's Choice Award Lauren Kadwell and Marlee Bower both received the People's Choice Award for their presentations at the 2015 CHR Student Research Conference. Lauren presented her work on Talking about sexuality and intimacy in the context of cancer and palliative care and Marlee presented her work on Designing a measure of ''social network' for the homeless population. |
Linda McKeever Award Amy Dryden received the Linda McKeever Award at the 21st Biennial Conference of the Society for Menstrual Cycle Research held at Suffolk University. This award is given to either undergraduate or graduate students who present high quality research at the SMCR conference. |
Elaine Dignan Award Amy Dryden received the Elaine Dignan Award from the Australian Psychological Society's Women and Psychology Interest Group for her honours thesis, publication and poster on young women's construction of their post-cancer fertility.The award encourages research about women; women's studies in psychology; or professional work of a psychological nature involving women, which addresses gender and other social attributes and considers their psychological effects. |
Cross Cultural Public Health Research Award Maria Uribe Guajardo received the Cross Cultural Public Health Research Award for her work on her project Providing Culturally appropriate Mental Health First Aid for non-health trained community-based workers assisting Iraqi refugees; development of expert consensus guidelines and initial training evaluation. |
