Led by Distinguished Prof David Simmons and A/Prof Milan Piya, and executed by Dr Ritesh Chimoriya as part of his doctoral research, the evaluation of DiRECT-Australia has yielded promising results, demonstrating the effectiveness, acceptability and affordability of an intensive weight management program in improving health outcomes for individuals with type 2 diabetes.

Western Sydney University, together with Maridulu Budyari Gumal (SPHERE) partners, will trial an innovative app assisted “model of care” following a grant of $744,873 from the Australian Government’s Targeted Translation Research Accelerator (TTRA) program, delivered by MTPConnect for the Medical Research Future Fund.

South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) in partnership with Diabetes Obesity and Metabolism Translational Research Unit (DOMTRU) are pleased to offer a series of FREE Practice Nurse Diabetes Education Workshops.

Western Sydney University will be running the Graduate Certificate in Person Centred Diabetes Care and Education commencing in Spring Session (July) 2019. This clinically focused course is designed for multidisciplinary clinicians who would like to specialise in diabetes clinical care and education.
