NICM researchers have featured prominently in the media resulting from recent research papers published about preventing and treating neurocognitive and mental health disorders, and women’s health.

Dr Joe Firth’s paper discussing the effects of aerobic exercise and brain health published in online in November’s Neuroimage(opens in a new window) received wide global interest and coverage(opens in a new window), with a current Altmetric attention score of 548.  News of the study was picked up in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States, the Philippines, Brazil, Russia, India, Egypt, Lebanon, Italy, Greece, UAE, Switzerland, Malaysia, China, South Africa and Peru. Over 130 stories were generated, highlights included: Xinhua, SMH, ABC Melbourne Radio, SBS, HuffPost US, Yahoo!News US, Newsweek, Men’s Health (UK), Australian Women’s Health, Health24, MSN USA and Science Daily.

Dr Firth’s other paper about nutrition and early psychosis treatment published in November’s world’s leading schizophrenia research journal, Schizophrenia Bulletin(opens in a new window) and also received national and international coverage in Australia, Singapore, United States, China, New Zealand, generating over 40 pieces of coverage. In December, Dr Genevieve Steiner’s study on mild cognitive impairment was also reported in The Senior.
