NICM Health Research Institute has joined the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine and Health,(opens in a new window) comprised of 75 of the most prestigious universities and health systems in North America.

Established in 1999 by eight academic health centres (Duke University, Harvard University, Stanford University, University of California, San Francisco, University of Arizona, University of Maryland, University of Massachusetts, and the University of Minnesota), today the Academic Consortium represents thousands of scientists, educators, clinicians, and other health professionals who share an interest in the field of integrative medicine and health.

“Strengthening the way in which evidence-based complementary medicine is integrated into care is on the radar of at least 70 per cent of the world's top medical schools, including those of this Academic Consortium,” said Professor Dennis Chang, Acting Director, NICM Health Research Institute, Western Sydney University.

“We are thrilled to be the first Asia-Pacific regional member of the Academic Consortium. We look forward to sharing research, exchanging information and new ideas, as well as responding to emerging opportunities and challenges, collaborating together with the world’s best and brightest.”

In broadening its international network, Academic Consortium Chair Francoise Adan, MD said: “This expansion represents the global benefits of working together to develop, share, and implement new, more efficient approaches to patient care and foster health research that advances our knowledge and promotes evidence-based integrative healthcare.”
