Office of the eSafety Commissioner Youth Engagement Strategy

Nationwide youth consultations to inform the Office of the eSafety Commissioner’s Youth Engagement Strategy

Our Vision

A series of youth consultations have been conducted to develop the eSafety Commissioner’s Youth Engagement Strategy. The Strategy ensures young people have a right to be part of the decision-making process for policies and programs that impact their lives.

Our Project Plan

To inform the development of the Strategy, the Young and Resilient Research Centre is designing and coordinating a series of youth consultations.

The project uses a Living Lab process with 64 young people from across Australia, aged 13 to 18, participating in online workshops. The sessions explore young people’s insights, experiences, and needs related to online safety. They are contributing to the design process for the Youth Cabinet and the Aspirational Statement.

Young & Resilient is committed to building capacity and creating opportunities for young people to engage, investigate and lead. As part of this process, a team of youth facilitators and co-researchers (aged 20 to 25 years old) have been trained to deliver the workshops with young people online.

What impact will this research have?

Young people’s insights will directly inform the Office of the eSafety Commissioner’s new Youth Engagement Strategy.

This project ensures the Office of the eSafety Commissioner’s work, programs and policies targeting young people are youth-centred and youth-led.
