Settlement Services International will be launching the latest phase of the Foundations for Belonging research which explores insights on the impacts of the pandemic for newly arrived refugees in Australia.

You will hear:

  • About the everyday experiences of refugees' sense of welcome and belonging in Australia
  • New data that was collected in late 2021 as the pandemic impacted communities in Australia and around the globe, with a focus on family separation and reunion among refugees
  • The actions that governments, policymakers, service providers and civil society can pursue to strengthen their contribution to settlement and integration

There will be a live panel discussion with a Q&A moderated by Lydia Feng, ABC TV. Panellists include:

  • Adrian Edwards, UNHCR Representative, Australia, New Zealand, PNG and the Pacific
  • Adama Kamara, Deputy CEO, Refugee Council of Australia
  • Yamamah Agha, General Manager Newcomers, Settlement and Integration, Settlement Services International
  • Dr Sukhmani Khorana, Vice-Chancellor’s Senior Research Fellow, Institute for Culture and Society, Western Sydney University
