What is it?
Employment, income, and career opportunities are increasingly centralised in big cities, particularly in the global north, but the cost of living in such cities has become prohibitive, with spiralling rents and rampant inflation. This symposium will bring together researchers who explore the mobilities and locational choices of young adults in relation to education and work. It focusses particularly on those from working class and minority backgrounds, and their strategies for making a living and building careers in both the metropole and the periphery: how do they overcome precariousness of work, skills, and incomes, and what sorts of social bonds do they form in their endeavours?

Morning tea and afternoon tea will be provided.
This free event is open to academics, policy makers, and community sector workers but registration is essential.
