Request an ergonomic assessment

On request, the WHS&W unit provide personalised ergonomic assessments for staff with pre-existing conditions. Ergonomics assessments are completed by a qualified professional with expertise in ergonomics.

The ergonomic assessments take a holistic approach to your health and wellbeing by looking at all factors which may create a less than ideal ergonomic workstation. This includes, but is not limited to your chair, workstation, monitors, work environment, keyboard, and mouse. Additionally, you will be asked questions about the frequency you complete your tasks, and the sequence you complete these tasks in.

Each ergonomic assessment is tailored to your specific needs and circumstances. To request a free consult with a qualified WHS&W professional, please complete the online form through WesternNow.

The WHS & Wellbeing unit request the below documentation and information before an assessment is considered:

  • Confirmation of a pre-existing condition
  • Any supportive medical documentation about your medical condition (medical certificate)
  • Response to pre-assessment questionnaire (included in WesternNow form)

The WHS & Wellbeing Unit must receive information that will enable us to make an informed decision about whether the pre-existing injury or condition might be aggravated by the tasks being undertaken and if there is a need for supportive controls.

If you do not have a pre-existing medical condition WHS & Wellbeing request you conduct an ergonomic self-assessment checklist through WesternNow and make necessary changes in consultation with your supervisor. We recommended you observe outcomes of self-assessment for 2 weeks and if issues persist contact WHS&W for further advice.

NOTE: The planning, Ergonomic assessment and reporting process will take 4 weeks. Bookings will be based off the annual ergonomic schedule and a mutual availability of staff.  If you require an assessment urgently, please contact the WHS & Wellbeing unit via email whs@westernsydney.edu.au
