Random Text in Word

Want text in a hurry to demonstrate something in Word? Here is a shortcut to insert random text.

To insert random text

  • At the beginning of a new paragraph, type =rand(3,5)
    The 3 is Paragraphs and the 5 is sentences per paragraph.
  • Press Enter

If it doesn't work, then make sure;

  • You are at the beginning of a new paragraph.
  • There are no spaces in the formula.
  • The Replace Text as You Type option is turned on.
     File tab / Options button / Proofing / Auto Correct options button.
