Using keyboard shortcuts in PowerPoint

The following are some of the most obvious keyboard shortcuts that may save you time:
For a full list in a diagram format, see the pdf on the side panel 

  • Press Ctrl+N to open up a new presentation
  • Press Ctrl+M to inserts a new slide into the presentation
  • Press Ctrl+O to open an existing presentation
  • Press Ctrl+S to save your presentation
  • Press Ctrl+W to close your presentation (but not the program)
  • Press Alt+F4 to close the program
  • Press F5 to start the slide show from the present slide
  • Press Ctrl+Q to close all slide show windows
  • Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+P to pause all slide show windows
  • Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R to resume all slide show windows (after pausing)
  • Press Ctrl+R to restart your current slides (this works great for animations)

While the slide show is running

  • Pressing B turns the screen Black
  • Pressing W turns the screen White
  • Pressing Esc ends the presentation
  • To change slides;
    • #<Enter> - to go to a particular slide 
            i.e. type in the slide number and press Enter E.g. 12<Enter>
    • Forward:    Enter or Space-bar or Right Arrow
    • Back:          Backspace or Left Arrow
