Digital Health research and development initiative

The Federal Government has announced it will invest $55 million through its Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) program to further develop Australia’s growing Digital Health technology and services industry.

THRI member Associate Professor Federico Girosi has been named as Chief Scientist and Director of Research of the Digital Health CRC. (opens in a new window) Professor Athula Ginige from the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics is taking on the role of research theme co-leader. Dr Kathy Tannous, Dr Evan Atlantis and Associate Professor Oliver Obst will continue to play important roles in the CRC.

The Centre will engage a unique, multi-disciplinary collaboration of research, clinical, industry, government and educational organisations to focus research and development on combining their shared expertise with data, information and telecommunication technologies.

“It will also allow our PhD students to enjoy unique advantages, including invaluable access to the expertise and real-world challenges of our partners – we’re producing the next generation of data scientists for the future of our industry,” says Associate Professor Girosi.
