Corporate Partnerships and Collaborations

Greater Western Sydney is the third largest economy in Australia, home to almost 150,000 businesses. Here at Western, we’re committed to our region, and we share a commitment to supporting our students, communities, businesses and government.

That’s why we’re proud to collaborate with our partners to deliver benefits that make a difference for our students, staff, Western Sydney businesses and community. Western are proud partners of the Western Sydney Wanderers Football Club, GWS GIANTS Football Club, CommBank Stadium, Western Sydney and South West Sydney Academies of Sport, and Sydney Zoo.

GWS GIANTS Football Club

Western and the GIANTS have been in partnership since the club’s inception in 2012. Throughout our ongoing partnership, GIANTS and Western have collaborated across numerous research projects and several Western students have undertaken placements, PHDs and internships with the GIANTS. Partnering with the GIANTS AFL and AFLW teams, students also get behind- the- scenes access to GIANTS headquarters, development sessions with player and coaching staff and the ability to participate in on-campus clinics with players. Western and the GIANTS also proudly deliver a joint in-school program within Western Sydney which is focused on expanding the impact of our partnership into the community.

Western and the Western Sydney Wanderers have been in partnership together since 2013. Supporting both the A League and W League teams, the partnership offers our students a range of experiences through internships, real-world projects, access to players and coaching staff for a range of student engagements and behind the scenes educational days at the Wanderers Head Office. The Wanderers also support our students through an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander scholarship program.

Sydney Zoo

Sydney Zoo is right in our backyard, and our shared commitment to the Indigenous heritage of Western Sydney sets the foundation for our partnership. Sydney Zoo is home to over 1,000 species including a wide range of exotic and native animals, Australia’s largest Reptile and Nocturnal House and an aquarium whilst proudly showcasing and educating visitors on the Aboriginal land and Indigenous heritage of Western Sydney. Students have the opportunity to go on exclusive behind the scenes tours, gain hands on experience through internships and engage with the Zoo on a range of learning and research projects. Sydney Zoo also supports a scholarship program at Western.
