Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development
Hosted by Western Sydney University, RCE Greater Western Sydney (RCE-GWS) has a focus on Education for Sustainable Development and the SDGs for a decade. Our partners, who include the region’s educational institutions, organisations, businesses, community groups and local government, work together on tackling our region’s sustainability challenges. We are 1 of over 170 acknowledged RCEs globally and have strong links with the Asia-Pacific region.
Regional Centres of Expertise (RCEs) on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) are acknowledged by the United Nations University (UNU) in response to the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD 2005-2014). Upon the completion of the DESD, RCEs are committed to further generating, accelerating and mainstreaming ESD by implementing the Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD (opens in a new window), and contributing to the realization of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (opens in a new window).
