Medical researchers in Australia and New Zealand have shown that acupuncture treatment significantly reduces period pain intensity, duration and symptoms over time, with improvements being sustained up to a year after treatment. Primary Dysmenorrhea (period pain) is the most common gynaecological complaint in menstruating women with up to four in five women suffering at some stage during their reproductive years.

With more than a million Australians predicted to be diagnosed with dementia by 2050, Western Sydney University is developing a region-first multidisciplinary Memory Clinic to help provide early diagnosis and local solutions for families affected by the debilitating condition. Dr Genevieve Steiner, NHMRC-ARC Dementia Research Development Fellow, NICM says providing local solutions are the key to reducing the burden of the expected dementia epidemic.
