NICM Health Research Institute’s world-class research has featured in leading media outlets internationally and nationally throughout the year. In 2020, over 700 pieces of coverage was generated, reaching potential 1.5 billion impressions.

Key highlights for October to December included:

  • In November Professor Jerome Sarris’ paper on depression and critical lifestyle factors featured internationally (India, UK, US, Canada, Germany, China, Indonesia, Colombia, UAE, Jordan, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, Italy, Spain) and nationally. Key media outlets included Bloomberg Quicktake, US News & World Report, Drugs.com, Hindustan Times. DailyHunt India, The Financial Express, India TV, HuffPost UK, Medical Xpress, MSN UK, Yahoo!News (UK/AU/Canada), Daily Mail UK, Businessworld, Gulf Today, Courier-Mail, Sun Herald, ABC Radio, 2GB, and 2UE. Professor Sarris also spoke with Network Seven's House of Wellness about the use of Kava and his research.
  • Also in November, Dr Mike Armour co-authored an opinion piece in The Conversation which was further covered across Australian and New Zealand in Australian Daily, Modern Australia, Foreign Affairs NZ, and Agenparl (Italy). Dr Armour also spoke with The Guardian in November about his paper on menstrual health literacy. The story was further syndicated in the UK, US and Romania across titles such as MSN and Yahoo!News UK.
  • In December, Dr Armour spoke with ABC’s Triple J program Hack about his latest research findings looking at cannabis use for endometriosis. In addition to featuring in an ABC Life article on endometriosis.
