Western Sydney University continues to climb world rankings

Western Sydney University has continued to improve its world standing, moving up 13 places in the 2019 Times Higher Education Young University Rankings.

Placing 58th in the world, an improvement from 71st in 2018, this is the sixth time Western Sydney University has featured in the top 100 of the influential list, which ranks the world’s best universities 50 years or younger.

The 2019 rankings assessed 351 young universities around the globe on criteria such as research, teaching excellence, innovation, and international outlook.

This ranking news comes after Western Sydney University also improved its standings in the QS World University Rankings to 468th, up from 498th the previous year.

Vice-Chancellor and President of Western Sydney University, Professor Barney Glover AO, says the latest results reaffirm the University’s reputation as a world leader.

“As a dynamic and innovative university celebrating its 30 year anniversary, it is pleasing for Western Sydney University’s excellence in teaching, research and innovation to be recognised on an international stage” said Professor Glover.

“Being named within the world’s top 100 young universities also reiterates Western Sydney University’s commitment to making a real impact, producing career-ready graduates equipped to meet challenges of a complex globalised world, and producing research that
impacts communities locally, nationally and globally.”
