The Outreach campus at Lithgow is in the heart of the city

Have you ever wanted to study at university, but not sure where to start? The University of Western Sydney's new Outreach campus at Lithgow is pleased to announce that it is now taking applications for its University Foundation Studies program beginning in 2014, for those who want to advance their study and career.

Enrolling students attending the Lithgow campus next year will also benefit from innovative programs to help support their tertiary education.

In 2014 students will receive an iPad, as part of the University's pioneering blended learning strategy, to help enhance their studies and empower them in their learning.

And, in further good news for prospective students from Lithgow and other parts of central western NSW who might be doing it tough, those who meet the entry requirements and equity criteria may be eligible for a Commonwealth-funded place to the University Foundation Studies program, which will mean they will not have to pay tuition fees.
The UWS Outreach campus will be based at the Charles Hoskins Building in Lithgow, and will officially open next year.

It will be managed by UWSCollege, a wholly-owned entity of the University of Western Sydney with an established reputation for providing quality pathways to tertiary study and positive academic outcomes for its students.

University Foundation Studies is a program that gives students a head start on their university studies by teaching them fundamental skills required to study at a university level – everything from essay writing and note taking to research and presentation skills.

The Outreach campus will offer two University Foundation Studies programs in 2014 – an Arts stream, for students who wish to go on to study arts, humanities, social science, psychology, education or languages, and a science stream, for students who wish to go on to study science or engineering.

Importantly, University Foundation Studies provides students with a pathway into the UWSCollege Diploma Program and into the first year of a corresponding UWS undergraduate degree.
