Community Award recipient, Laura Sardo

Laura Sardo has worked in the community sector for more than 20 years, helping refuges and newly arrived migrants with their short and long term settlement issues. On many occasions she has gone beyond the call of duty to assist families and individuals in need.  Her dedication, empathy and compassion towards other people, sets a great example for the community, contributes to the betterment of our local area and has helped change the lives of people who come to see her in search of assistance. Laura is always prepared to speak up on social issues and advocate for better policies and programs to improve the lives of refugee and migrant families in Australia. This community award is a way for the University and the community to recognize her outstanding contribution to the Penrith and Nepean area and to celebrate the personal qualities which make her a unique individual and a great role model for others.
