Community Award recipient, Gerry Knights

Mr Gerry Knights is the Director of the South West Sydney Academy of Sport. This community-based organisation facilitates the development and support of talented junior athletes and coaches in the region. Through the Academy, athletes are afforded the opportunity to realise their potential on the sporting stage, and for some, represent their State and Australia as we saw at the recent London Olympic Games. Mr Knights has been instrumental in developing and running the Academy over many years, and has demonstrated his desire to always go beyond the scope of his role to ensure that young athletes are given the best possible opportunities to develop and excel.
