UWS Community Scholarships - Antonious Nehme

Antonious Nehme, 19, is in his second year of the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Law at the University of Western Sydney’s Parramatta and Bankstown campuses.

Antonious, resident of Punchbowl, has always wanted to study law and would like to become a police prosecutor.

Antonious’ family migrated from Lebanon to set up a life in Australia and when he graduates he will be the first in his family to hold a university qualification – an achievement that his father says makes him very proud.

His journey to and during university has included caring for his sick parents and brother , as well as overcoming his own health setbacks while juggling part time work. All these factors have contributed to the financial pressure of attending university.

After doing some research online, Antonious found information on the UWS Community Scholarships 2012 and decided to apply.

“I am very excited and enthusiastic about receiving a UWS Community Scholarship as it will greatly help me to spend more time at home looking after my parents and my brother.”

“The scholarship will allow me to finish me degree without financial hassles, which will in turn allow me to achieve my goal of becoming a prosecutor.”
