Sydney Science Festival 2024

Event: Sydney Science Festival Family Day (17 Aug 2024)

The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour, and Development team was thrilled to participate in the Sydney Science Festival on August 17, held by the Powerhouse Museum and City of Parramatta. It was an exciting opportunity to showcase our work and engage with the community.

We enjoyed seeing participants dive into the Spot-the-AI-Images game, have fun at the event-based camera photobooth, and explore the EEG cap demonstration. A highlight was the session, where children had the chance to ask our researchers about AI and space in a relaxed setting away from the crowd.

Another memorable moment was during the stage interviews, where one insightful young participant asked, "Why do we need self-driving cars and robots?" We were excited to discuss how these technologies enhance efficiency and open up new possibilities.

The festival did a wonderful job of blending education with entertainment, making science both accessible and enjoyable for everyone. We are grateful for the chance to contribute to such a meaningful event and look forward to future community engagement opportunities.
