Supporting Authentic Learning with The College

Authentic learning workshopDr Carol Russell and Georgie Avard from the Learning Transformations team, provided a workshop on authentic learning approaches with enthusiastic staff from The College.  The teams are working closely together as the College moves forward with its own Curriculum Transformation project aligned to the  21st Century Curriculum  project. As staff came from a variety of positions and disciplines, lively interactions were had around topics such as ‘what is authentic learning at The College?’ and ‘do all our learning activities have to be authentic?’.

Staff had an opportunity to look at real unit outlines and to develop an activity that followed authentic learning principles, and to work on developing authentic learning in their own units.

If you are interested in authentic learning approaches, a good place to start is to visit Herrington’s website (opens in a new window), with further information available on the 21st Century Curriculum Project site (opens in a new window).
