About the project

This research explores the different kinds of support that make it possible to live in an expensive city like Sydney.

We want to talk to people in the following groups about how they get by:

  • JobSeeker recipients
  • Disability Support Pension recipients
  • Parenting Payment Single
  • Asylum Seekers
  • People earning less than $650 per week and not receiving income support

We would like to speak to people aged 18-65 years

Share your story

If you are from one of these four groups and you live in the Cumberland or Parramatta regions*, we would like to hear from you.

Your story will help us make recommendations to organisations and the government to improve the support available to people who need it.

If you are interviewed, you will receive a gift voucher worth $50 to thank you for your time.

Please fill in the form below if you are interested in being involved:

What happens next?

Someone from the research team will contact you and ask you some questions to check if you fit the criteria of people we’d like to talk to. If you do, we will arrange a time and place to talk that suits you.

We will talk to you for about an hour. If you would like more time to tell your story, we can talk for up to 2 hours. We can talk face-to-face or via phone or Zoom.

Anything you tell us will be confidential and you will not be named in the write up of the research.

Who are we?
