Tingting Liu
Dr Tingting Liu is an Associate Professor at the School of Journalism and Communication, Jinan University, Guangzhou, PRC China. She joined the Institute for Culture and Society in 2019 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. She is now working on an ARC Discovery Project ‘New Consumer Cultures in the Global South’ with Associate Professor Anna Cristina Pertierra (2019-2022).
Her Research Fellow’s role of the project consists of two parts. Firstly, she is in charge of the administrative work, managing the scale of a four-country study within the timeframe of the project. Secondly, she is working as the major investigator in the context of China, concentrating on managing one field site, and enabling genuine cross-country comparison across both the Asian and Latin American sites.

- New Media and Digital Culture, especially online dating services and digital gaming
- Gender & Sexuality Studies, especially in the context of China
- Consumer culture and the emergence of urban modernities
