Professor Juan Francisco Salazar Wins Researcher of the Year Award
Congratulations to Professor Juan Francisco Salazar who has won one of two Researcher of the Year Awards in the Western Sydney University 2020 Vice-Chancellor's Excellence Awards.
Professor Salazar is a world-leading researcher in the interdisciplinary field of environmental humanities and a recent awardee of an Australian Future Fellowship for the project Australia a Space Faring Nation: An Analysis of Socio-technical Imaginaries of Spaces Futures. His internationally acclaimed research and award winning creative practice both explore the coupled dynamics of social-ecological change, with a focus on people and places where the environmental and cultural challenges of living sustainably are starkly exposed. Underpinned by a collaborative ethos across the arts, humanities and natural sciences, his work demonstrates an ability to secure competitive grants and industry funding and translate research into meaningful outcomes for a range of local communities.
He is joined by fellow winner Professor Brajesh Singh, Director of the Global Centre for Land-Based Innovation, Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, in being recognised for his work.
The Institute is honoured to have Professor Salazar as a member of its research team.
