Institute for Culture and Society Hosts Australian Screen Industries Roundtable

On 8 February, the Institute for Culture and Society, with the School of Business and the University of South Australia’s School of Creative Industries, hosted a roundtable to discuss opportunities and barriers within the Australian screen industry.

The roundtable brought together representatives from a range of screen industry organisations in New South Wales and South Australia to consider emergent work and labour issues such as harassment, inequality and diversity, the impact of contractual and precarious work on the sector, and how researchers and organisations might collaborate to address these.

It featured presentations by Professor Susan Luckman, Dr Sheree Gregory, Associate Professor Meg Smith and Professor Ien Ang. The researchers are working on developing an ongoing research collaboration motivated by a shared desire that Australia’s screen industries be world leading in their embrace of best practice.
