Hart Cohen and Tim Rowse to Speak at Journey to Horseshoe Bend Symposium

As part of the University's Research Week, Associate Professor Hart Cohen and Professor Tim Rowse will speak at a symposium on TGH Strehlow's Journey to Horseshoe Bend: The Republication of an Australian Classic.

This symposium will launch a new edition of the Australian classic memoir Journey to Horseshoe Bend, published by the University's publishing house, Giramondo Press. Invited speakers will address the significance of the book and its relevance to a new readership after being out of print for several decades. Having inspired art installations, a musical work (Cantata), a film, a database and a biography, the re-appearance of this Strehlow story is a major event on the Australian literary calendar.

Confirmed speakers are Anne Boyd, Hart Cohen, Martin Edmond, Brett Galt Smith, Ivor Indyk, Adam Macfie, Rachel Morley, John Morton, Tim Rowse, Andrew Schultz and Baydon Williams.

Hart spoke to Radio National's Books and Art program about the literary milestone on Tuesday 27th. Listen to the podcast on the Radio National website (opens in a new window).
