Biographies

Dr Debbie Bargallie is a descendant of the Kamilaroi and Wonnarua peoples from the Upper Hunter Valley and Liverpool Plains areas of New South Wales.  Debbie was born and raised on D’harawal Country in Wollongong, New South Wales. She is an interdisciplinary critical race scholar and Senior Research Fellow at Griffith University's Griffith Institute for Educational Research, the Griffith Centre for Social and Cultural Research and Griffith Institute of Criminology. Her research interest is the critical theorization of race and racism with a primary focus on the experiences of Indigenous Australian peoples and workplaces. Her book Unmasking the racial contract: Indigenous voices on racism in the Australian Public Service (2020) was published by Aboriginal Studies Press.

Dr Alana Lentinis Professor in Cultural and Social Analysis at Western Sydney University in New South Wales, Australia. She is a Jewish European woman who is a settler on Gadigal-Wangal land. She works on the critical theorization of race, racism, and antiracism. Her books include Why Race Still Matters (Polity 2020), The Crises of Multiculturalism: Racism in a neoliberal age (with Gavan Titley 2011), Racism and Sociology (2014 with Wulf D. Hund), Racism (2008) and Racism and Anti-racism in Europe (2004).
