Procurement of IT Equipment
The Office of Procurement Services (OPS) is responsible for end to end acquisition and asset management on behalf of the university. We provide accurate advice and expertise in the key areas of IT equipment, covering:
- Disposal, and
- IT asset management.
This includes computer hardware, software, printing devices and related IT equipment. Our aim is to provide the University's Schools, Institutes and Divisions with complete IT solutions to fulfil their business needs.

Software and Hardware
All software and hardware are considered Restricted Items. The University has authorised certain business units to negotiate and secure contracts for particular goods and/or services on its behalf. Only those nominated areas are authorised to procure for these items.

The University maintains a library of software available for use on University owned/leased machines. Some licences are free of additional charge whilst others are chargeable. Procurement and Corporate Services (PCS) is responsible for maintaining the library and ensuring software licensing across the University is managed in accordance with the legal obligations that accompany each piece of software. To ensure licensing compliance, all software requests must be processed through PCS.
Welcome to PrintSmart
PrintSmart, a Follow-Me Print solution, is helping to reshape printing at Western, making us more mobile and environmentally friendly whilst improving the user experience.
Follow Me Print (we have called it PrintSmart) allows users to print to a shared print queue and print their work from any printer, anywhere, within 24 hours. This ensures that printing is confidential to the user and reduces printed waste from uncollected documents at the printer. As you have registered your card using a specific FujiFilm device, you can print it anywhere at our campuses. Once registered, you can tap any PrintSmart printer and go.
There are many benefits, including:
- Printing over the WiFi is now available.
- Improving our Green Credentials, supporting Western’s Sustainability Agenda.
- Supports a Mobile Workforce.
- Improved Security.
Procurement Corporate Service (PCS), partnered with Information Technology and Digital Services (ITDS), to roll out the PrintSmart service. As a result, a new consolidated print fleet was deployed across our campus network, initially for staff, until the end of 2022. Printers for students will start in 2023.
FujiFilm have been contracted to continue to assist the University with reducing costs and ensuring that all of the University staff have access to quality printing, copying and scanning.
