Associate Professor Dimitris Vardoulakis, Chair of Philosophy Research Initiative, School of Humanities and Communication Arts

As the inaugural chair, Dimitris Vardoulakis has led Philosophy at Western Sydney to become one of the – if not the – strongest concentration in continental philosophy in the Australasian region.  His leadership has fostered a rapid expansion in research and attracted two Future Fellowships, has promoted internationalisation, and has established a reputation for philosophy which has helped to attract high profile international appointments to the University.

Dr David Harland, Institute Manager, Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment

As Institute Manager, Dr Harland has provided outstanding leadership and administrative support for the academics, Professional staff and students in the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment (HIE).  Dr Harland's exceptional management capabilities and unique set of personal and interpersonal skills have enabled him to meet the challenges of the role. These skills and in-depth understanding the  University's operation and administration have been key factors underpinning the research success of the HIE and have contributed directly to the reputation stern Sydney University as a research-led university with regional, national and global impact.
