Compliance Management Program

To maintain and support Western Sydney University's obligations in providing a safe environment for its students, its staff, and the wider community, a commitment to adopting the highest standards of accountability and to the promotion of a positive compliance culture is essential.

The University's approach to compliance is shaped by the values, ethics, and beliefs that exist throughout the University, and is implemented via an enterprise-wide Compliance Management Program ("the Program").

The Program is a set of interrelated or interacting processes at the University to achieve compliance.  It is based on the continual improvement principle of "Develop, Implement, Evaluate, Maintain", and is anchored by the Compliance Policy, which is endorsed by the University's Audit and Risk Committee.

The two main features of the Program that facilitate the continual improvement principles are:

  • Compliance Directory – a centralised web-based directory that is accessible to all University staff and the University community. It identifies and summarises the current NSW and Commonwealth laws that govern the University and the university sector's operations and activities.
  • Non-compliance Incident Reporting – reporting of potential, or actual non-fulfilment of particular incidences that affect the University's compliance requirements.

At Western Sydney University, compliance and the awareness of compliance is everyone's responsibility.
