Welcome to Enterprise Compliance at Western Sydney University.

Who We Are

The Compliance Program Unit is a dedicated accountability and assurance oversight function within the Office of Legal, Governance, Compliance and Integrity, which forms part of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and President.

The Unit is committed to supporting business units while maintaining independence and objectivity.

What We Do

For the University and The College, we lead and oversee the following functions:

Regulatory compliance
Including the activities under the Compliance Management Program to enable and assure that accountable operational units comply with applicable New South Wales and Commonwealth legislation governing the University.
Privacy compliance
]Including the provision of guidance and delivery of processes that enable the University and its controlled entities to comply with Commonwealth and New South Wales privacy legislation, and appropriately manage and mitigate identified privacy risks.
GIPA compliance

Including the assessment and determination of Access Applications for government information in accordance with the public interest test under the Go

vernment Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (NSW).

Integrity reporting
Including enabling the reporting of declared conflicts of interest, and gifts and benefits by those representing the University and its business.
Legal and Compliance Training
Including facilitating training and awareness on legal and regulatory topics relevant to staff and University operations.
Annual Modern Slavery Statement submission
Including ensuring the University’s Modern Slavery Statement addresses all mandatory criteria and is submitted to the Government portal by the required due date.

The Team

The Team is based at the Parramatta South campus.

Keira Hamilton is the Director of the Compliance Program Unit.

The Privacy and GIPA Officer reports into the Unit.

Keira holds a Double Degree in Media and Law (BMedia / LLB), and a Graduate Certificate in Compliance and Risk Management (10184NAT). She is also an appointed NSW Justice of the Peace (JP), and a continuing member of the Governance Risk and Compliance Institute.
