The Evolution of Higher Education at the Technological Nexus of Teachers, Students, Employers and Society. The theme is timely as the Higher Education sector rethinks the vision of Teaching and Learning in 2022, as we transition out of the pandemic and debate what that looks like for Western in our very own centre of excellence teaching and learning - Badugulang. Western’s staff are responding to this change now, and this partnership event will allow the wider university community to engage and connect with their work. The program will commence with a keynote address on “Indigenous Education at Western” presented by Professor Susan Page, Director of Indigenous Learning and Teaching where she will weave together praxis, empirical research and critical reflections and illustrate ways to transform curriculum, buttress teaching and foster transformative student learning.
Through four concurrent sessions, we will then highlight the exemplary and innovative current practices of our staff as they work across the areas of Alternative Credentials, Digital Transformation, Flexible Learning and our excellent work identified in the DVCA COVID-19 commendation winners. This will provide a platform for participants to debate and reflect on the strategies and examples presented of how we can navigate and thrive in this challenging environment going forward.
There will be four exciting sessions running concurrently with the following topics.
a) 21C Project: Innovating Alternative Credentials (iAC)
b) HyFlex – TPP/HyFlex exemplars
c) DVCA awards/Alternative Assessments
d) Digital Transformation
