Infant Vocabulary Checklist (OZI-LF)
Introducing the OZIParents are experts on their child’s communication development. Asking parents to report on which words their child says and/or understands has been shown to be a reliable way to measure communication development, for children under 3 years. The OZI (pronounced OZ-eye) is a parent checklist of children’s communication. It is an adaptation of the MacArthur-Bates Communicative Development Inventory. The OZI is for children aged 12-30 months and has norms (for details see Kalashnikova, Schwarz & Burnham, 2016, DOI: 10.1177/0142723716648846). You can find the norms for the OZI on wordbank.stanford.edu: just go to Norms and make sure to select Australian English. The OZI contains 558 items and takes 20-45 minutes to complete depending on the age of the child and how many words they say/understand. (If you need a shorter version, you might consider the OZI Short Form, or OZI-SF). The OZI is to be used only for research or clinical purposes.
